What it means to be a menopause friendly workplace

Being accredited as a Menopause Friendly Employer is more than ticking a box. The Menopause Friendly Accreditation pillars are defined and governed by the Independent Panel of experts, who review all applications, and provide detailed feedback regardless of the outcome.

When you gain The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, it means that you’ve demonstrated to the Independent Panel of experts that your organisation actively supports menopause at work across the five accreditation pillars.

How to get accredited

Click to learn the five steps your workplace needs to take in order to achieve The Menopause Friendly Accreditation…

When you join, you’ll gain “Committed to being Menopause Friendly” status and access to all the exclusive resources included in your membership.

Share your commitment internally and externally: we’ll display your logo on our site alongside other leading employers. In addition, you’ll recieve access to the Menopause Friendly Asset pack to share your commitment internally and externally.

Step 2: Make change

Menopause Friendly Membership provides access to the Menopause Friendly Standards.

Review them and make use of exclusive resources in your selected package to support your journey to becoming a menopause friendly workplace, including: monthly webinars on the accreditation pillars, specialist masterclasses, access to a library of best-practice policy and guidance documents, ready-made engagement toolkits and much, much more.

Step 3: Apply for accreditation

When you’re ready, apply for accreditation.

When you submit your application, the Menopause Friendly Independent Panel (who govern the standards) will review it.

Regardless of the outcome, you’ll be provided with detailed feedback to support you.

Step 4: Celebrate success

Display your badge with pride!

When you achieve The Menopause Friendly Accreditation, you’ve a a lot to be proud of.

What’s more, you’ll enjoy discounted membership to support you in sustaining change in your workplace.

There’s lots of opportunities to celebrate along the journey too, including the annual Menopause Friendly Employer Awards.

Step 5: Sustain change

Resubmit every three years

Cultural change takes time and as a result, you’ll need to resubmit your application every three years to maintain your Menopause Friendly Accreditation.

To support you, discounted membership makes it easy for you to sustain change once you’re accredited.

For example, you will enjoy ready-made toolkits to keep the conversation about menopause at work going on key events like International Women’s Day, World Menopause and Women’s Health Week.

“The Menopause Friendly Accreditation provided internal recognition for the great work we have implemented within the menopause space.

“Importantly, it also makes it clear to all staff that we are fully committed to supporting their wellbeing and take pride in providing an inclusive and caring environment. We were surprised at the detail of the application process. You can tell that a lot of hard work has gone in to make it as robust as possible.

A key benefit of the process requiring so much evidence, is that you can take stock of what you have or don’t have in place. The whole process acts as a great gap analysis!”
